Big Damn Heroclix, Sir.

A Green Lantern Heroclix Piece.
 They're probably about 2" tall.
In our quest to become the coolest Big Geek, Little Geek we can... G and I found this interesting game called Heroclix. Think D&D meets Pokemon using Marvel and DC superheroes. The biggest draw is the little figures which make great display pieces. First we just got a few "dudes" for the display, but after some research I realized that while it does have crazy advanced levels of play it does have some super simple modes that utilizes basic math, and so I thought what better way to encourage math skills in my upcoming 2nd grader. Also it was a nice change from the Xbox. Despite a verbal thrashing from the BIL (Brother in Law) AKA Young James citing that we were goobs. This has been an interesting little game. Though I understand his misgivings-

During our search for pieces, which were hard to find, we went to two comic book shops, which if you're ever in the Gump I would highly recommend, both places have awesome purveyors and family environments, however we also went to a "gaming" store, which they're the guys you go to get Warhammer sets, Magic cards, D&D manuals, etc. It's also the hangout where these guys play as they have numerous tables and game setting boards, and all I can say is... it smelt like BO, and there wasn't a shampooed head in the house. I would like to blame the teenagers, but the creepy 40-something that stared at me and G our entire time there was seemingly typical across the "board." (Woot for bad puns.)

On the verge of Geekdom we sit. Too far gone? Possibly. But I think we still have good foot on reality and sociality, though that black odorous hole of gaming oblivion might be just a "heroclix" away... Mwa ha ha ha!

We'll see.
