| My new sis: Journey |
There's been a whirlwind of emotion since I've found about this new edition to the family, and honestly, between you and me, I'm up and down from day to day. I bounce back and forth between happy to have another worshiper of my awesomeness, and excited that a family-less girl will have a home and family (complete with a stupid dog) and gets an opportunity to live the rest of her life in America, which is still the greatest nation on Earth (for now), but there's times when I'm like, "I don't speak Chinese (or Mandarin), I don't eat Chinese, what am I going to do with some Chinese girl under the same roof?"
So my mom chose her "American" name. It's going to be Journey. Uhhh... I had no say so on that one. You'd think my mom was a Flower Child. She's not. I personally break out into song every time I hear the name. "Just a small town girl.... living in a LONELY worlddddddd!!!"
Adoption: I've never really thought about it. Apparently there's circles where this is a big thing. I know it's expensive. I'm not sure where the money goes, but it looks a lot like "buying" a child from where I'm sitting. Sure the government calls it "fees." Sounds like a lucrative business to get into. Now to find a stock of children. I'm thinking eBay. This will save time and be cheaper for everyone.
Still, she's coming, and I prepare. These are a few of the hopes I have for her:
- That she will be a fan of Xbox.
- That she will be able to adapt to her new life and family with as little issue as possible.
- That she will always yell "War Eagle" on Rivalry Saturday. (That Mandarin equivalent is acceptable.)
- That she will always be able to smile, laugh, and dance.
- That she will have many, many friends.
- That she knows some super secret Chinese karate that she'll be able to teach me.
- That she will never stop believing that her big brother has accepted her as the newest little Simpson, and he will always, always love her with all of his grouchy-bear heart.
